Bargain. It’s a catch word in coalition politics. Chandra Babu Naidu mastered this art decades ago.
While extending support from outside to Vajypayee’s government in the centre, he bargained for only one post- the speaker of Lok Sabha.
Now, his party can easily grab three seats in Rajya Sabha from the electoral college of MLAs. Of the three, BJP demands one, presumably to Niramala Sitraraman, a Union Minister. In exchange of this, he is rumored to have asked for two Governor posts to accommodate seniors.
As he has dropped the idea of accommodating Telangana leaders of TDP to send Rajyasabha, in AP quota , he is likely to send at least one as a Governor from the region. Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, a senior TDP leader from Telangana, has been eyeing on Governor post for many years. He has left no stone unturned in attacking KCR. He will be the first choice, if Naidu makes such a bargain, it’s reliably learnt. The second one to be sent as Governor is inevitably from AP.
