BJP looses some ground in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections to Aam Aadmi Party and Congress.
As the results for 13 counciller seats released today, AAP has made its first time presence in MCD winning 5 seats in their first Municipal election. Congress regained some of its lost pitch by winning 4, as BJP settles for 3. An Independent candidate has won the other seat.
But, Ajay Maken, Congress Delhi Chief claimed that the independent is joining Congress making their tally 5.
Now that independent winner has joined INC, our tally is 5 out of 13 in Delhi-
And we are number one!

These seats were left vacant as the ward cancellers occupying those positions have stood for Assembly constituencies and won them to become MLAs. These By-elections were touted as pre-polls for the MCD elections in 2017. Currently, a Cong-BJP alliance is in control of the MCD.
Promoting the outcome as reaffirmation of faith by Delhites towards them, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal has tweeted that winning all seats in MCD is still left for them to achieve [in 2017 municipal elections].
MCD ruled by BJP-Cong. Outsider AAP wins max seats in byelection. Thnx Delhi for reaffirming faith. Ab MCD election mein sabhi seat jeetni h

On the other hand, Congress’ Delhi Chief Ajay Maken was quick to give the credit to Rahul Gandhi [following the trend established for some time].
Though BJP has won the maximum vote share of over 34% totally, it seems the party’s winning candidates got the congregated votes, as the Party had only won 3 seats. AAP garnered nearly 30% votes, where as the Congress got just below 25%.
