Apple Talking with Google About Bringing Gemini AI to iPhone, Report Says

Apple and Google are already working together on a deal where Google pays a lot of money to Apple so that Google’s search engine is easy to find on iPhones. Now, Apple is having serious discussions with Google to use its smart Gemini AI on the iPhone, according to a report from Bloomberg on Monday.

This could be a big deal because Apple has been criticized for not keeping up with other big tech companies in terms of artificial intelligence (AI). If this deal happens, it might help Apple improve its AI strategy.

When this news came out, Google’s stock price went up by more than six percent, and Apple’s went up by about 2.5 percent. Bloomberg says that Apple wants to team up with Google for the next version of its iOS operating system, which is the software that runs on iPhones. This new AI could be featured on the next iPhone, which is expected to come out later this year.

But there’s already a big deal between Apple and Google for Google’s search engine to be on iPhones. This deal has been going on for a long time, but now, it’s facing some legal trouble from the US Department of Justice because of antitrust concerns.

Bloomberg also mentioned that Apple talked with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, about working together on AI, but they didn’t give many details.

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, recently said there would be some big updates coming in AI. However, some people might be disappointed that Apple is teaming up with other companies instead of doing it all on their own.

An analyst named Colin Sebastian said that if Apple and Google make a deal, it could mean that Google has a big influence on AI for mobile devices like iPhones. And it might make it harder for Apple to catch up with other leaders in AI technology, at least in the next round of devices.
