Speaker Johnson: House Will Try Again to Help Israel

Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, said they’ll make another attempt to pass a funding plan for Israel this week after Iran attacked the country. He talked about this on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Johnson mentioned that they tried before to pass a $14 billion aid package for Israel, but it didn’t work out in the Senate. Even when they tried again with a simpler plan, it faced challenges. But Johnson is determined to try again, especially after Iran’s recent attack on April 13.

He also talked about possibly giving more help to Ukraine, like former President Trump suggested. Johnson and Trump agree on this, and they’re looking at ideas to support Ukraine, like seizing assets from corrupt Russian people. They’re trying to find ideas that everyone can agree on.

But there are still uncertainties. They’re not sure how much support they’ll get for the aid bill, and if they’ll combine help for Ukraine with help for Israel. And there’s another problem: some members of Johnson’s party don’t support foreign aid at all.

Plus, Johnson has to deal with other issues, like a motion against him from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. It’s not clear how he’ll try to pass the new aid for Israel. He might do it using regular House rules or try to get more support by using different rules.

Either way, it’s going to be a challenge, but Johnson is determined to help Israel and figure out how to support Ukraine too.
